TupacHappy Birthday to the rapper, actor, poet, son of Black Panther activists and legend before his time. Born Lesane Parish Crooks, and later changed to Tupac Amari Shakur or 2Pac for short, his mother moved he and his sister around the country prior to settling in Baltimore where he attended the Baltimore School of the Arts at a young age. It was there he began penning poetry and rap. He began the early part of his career after meeting Digital Underground’s Shock-G. He joined the group as a dancer and hype-man as he continued to work on rhymes of his own. He made his rap debut on the group’s single “Same Song” from the album This Is An EP Release This Is An EP Releaseand things took off for the young MC from that point. The following year he released his own album, 2Pacalypse Now. The most recognizable single from that album was “Brenda’s Got A Baby”. He went on to record 4 additional albums prior to his early death, and 18 posthumous albums were released continuning his legacy.

I’m not gonna dwell on how 2Pac’s legacy ended as we all know what happened and how things were swept under the table thereafter. My favorite 2Pac song of all time was “So Many Tears”. Check the live video below:
