Virtuous WomanSong: “Virtuous Woman”

Album: Virtuous Woman (2001)

Label: VP

At the young age of 23, Warrior King released the record “Virtuous Woman” well before having dropped the album. The young singjay developed a huge name for himself in dances across Jamaica with both this song and “Never Go Where Pagans Go”. The buzz eventually caused both records to crossover. His conscious music was a refreshing sound at the time when a lot of hardcore dancehall artists were emerging on the scene.

If you enjoy smooth contemporary Reggae, you will like Warrior King’s love-themed album which has been described as having a preachy, yet innocent quality. There are a couple tracks that went in a little too deep with the consciousness and such, but its otherwise a great album to keep stashed. Check out the comical live performance below and for a good laugh pay attention to the 2:01 mark. If this is your first time hearing the song there’s a hyperlink directly below the video for a more clear version.
