Deeper Than Rap

That’s the title of The Boss, Rick Ross’ latest release set to hit stores on April 21st.  Deeper Than RapI for one am really excited because despite what anyone else says, Ross has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with. Someone said recently, and I couldn’t agree more, that if it wasn’t for Trick Daddy, there wouldn’t be a Rick Ross. Trick has definitely set the bar for Miami-based Rappers, but Ross is on a whole different playing field in my opinion.

Despite the recent revelation that Ross was a former man of the law, I still think this 14-track album will hold its own. Collaborations on the album include John Legend, fellow Miami Native Trina, Jeezy, Three 6 Mafia and what would any album be these days without T-Pain, Kanye and Wayne. Nas also makes an appearance on “Usual Suspects” which should be an interesting one.

He had my co-sign after listening to his 2008 album, Trilla. Its very rare these days to find a full album that you can just play from start to finish. Of course there was a record here or there that got skipped, but for the most part I was satisfied with my purchase. Deeper Than Rap which is released under Def Jam will be another Boss album to add to my collection. Check out the lead single with John Legend called “Magnificent” below. And always remember to stay Trill!
